Lisa
Bittersweet Violet is the creation of Lisa Costanzo, a seasoned art director and designer with over 35 years in advertising. After earning a Fine Arts degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Lisa discovered her passion for specialty chocolate through local workshops. Starting with homemade treats for loved ones, she soon began crafting custom confections for her brother's restaurant, inspiring her to share her creations with a wider audience.
Lisa honed her chocolate-making skills, graduating with honors from Ecole Chocolat's Professional Chocolatier Program and furthering her education with Melissa Coppel's 'Running a Chocolate Production' course. She continues to enhance her craft through workshops and classes, always seeking new techniques and inspirations.
Bittersweet Violet
At Bittersweet Violet, craftsmanship, creativity, and chocolate come together in handmade small batches. Nestled in a charming courtyard of a historic building from the late 1800s, our tiny chocolate shop invites you to step into a world where nostalgia meets craft, blending vintage elegance with the charm of an old-world general store and a hint of apothecary magic.
Our commitment to ethical sourcing shines through in all of our products, using fair-trade couverture chocolate and seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. We take great care in making our confections, which are fresh and free from preservatives.
Classic flavors from bygone eras are celebrated here, some with a special nod to Boston's rich history, alongside new creations designed to please the modern palate. If you can't visit us in person, you can still enjoy our confections by ordering online. We ensure that every delivery brings a taste of our charming creations straight to your door, handcrafted with a dash of whimsy and a hint of vintage charm.
